2022 Charity Shop Purchases #22 - Shelby Lynne - I Am Shelby Lynne
Well actually I am Charity Chic, but I digress
There are a few Shelby Lynne CDs on the shelves and I could have sworn blind that I Am Shelby Lynne was one of them. This glaring omission was highlighted during my cataloguing and was rectified by a 50p purchase in the Wigtown Community Shop.
50p well spent as it is very good indeed. I've always had her down as primarily a country singer but this one has more of a blues and soul feel about it, something she repeated with Just a Little Lovin' her 2008 tribute to Dusty Springfield.
I Am Shelby Lynne was released in 1998 on the Mercury label in the UK and on Island in the US. Given the title you could be forgiven for thinking that it is her debut album but it is in fact her 6th album the first being as far back as 1989.This is the one which shot her to fame though.
That first track is well worth listening to again

Think there may be a drop down function on the right where you can leave your name?
DeleteI was confused by the title of the post, I thought you were having an identity crisis
ReplyDeleteI can't even argue that there is a passing resemblance!
ReplyDeleteIf Ms Lynne sports a beard it might be difficult to tell you two apart, though
DeleteI've seen this one loads of times in Charity Shops but never pounced as I thought I had it
ReplyDeleteThis was the first time I had knowingly listened to Shelby Lynne...I've a feeling she's appeared on Spotify lists in south side coffee shops.....she was almost exactly what I imagined. Sounds as if the CD was worth 50p.
