Some Torch Song Psychadelia?
No me neither - A description from Wiki describing the music of Gemma Ray. They also use the terms noir-pop, sideways blues and gothic folk. I clearly have to get out more.
Of her seven albums I only have the first one The Leader from 2008. I featured it before and it was interesting to see if the same songs jumped out at me this time. Yes and no is the answer.
Track 5 Rise of the Runts caught my attention as it did the last time along with Hard Shoulder. But I was also taken with On Your Own.
A post a day means I am probably going to be re-visiting old material more often and I'm not sure whether I will be able to maintain my enthusiasm and motivation but we'll see how it goes.

Must be 'acts with the word Ray in their name Friday' today. We've gone with Girl Ray today.

Spooky!
DeleteGood stuff. Saw her live last year and I was hardly impressed. And I know how hard it is to keep the blog alive daily.
ReplyDelete" I'm not sure whether I will be able to maintain my enthusiasm and motivation but we'll see how it goes" Jo said the very same thing to me yesterday.........
ReplyDeleteGeorge 1986 phoned they want their joke back....

DeleteSideways Blues is a good genre description.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know anything about her until The Robster posted a great ICA on JC's site. Well worth getting to know.
