Sorry Johnny

First the good news - this is the last time that I will be subjecting you to this bloody GIF!
Now the bad news - Johnny was comprehensively beating by Neil Young with Pocahontas to give a final score of Cash 9 The Rest 10.
The first of the featured artists to lose following Bob Dylan's 10- 6 victory and Springsteen's 10- 8 win.

For the record Johnny beat The Eagles, Elvis Costello, Depeche Mode, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Tom Russell, Beck, Gordon Lightfoot and Sheryl Crow.

He lost to Kris Kristofferson, Tom Petty, Simon & Garfunkel, Bruce Springsteen, HankWilliams, Roberta Flack, Neil Diamond, Bob Marley & Joe Strummer, Steve Earle and Neil Young.

He drew with Nick Cave.

Had  I played this he would have won. The video has been seen over 100 million times on You Tube but is worth seeing again.

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Nine Inch Nails - Hurt

I'm having a break from this series but doubtless it will returm

  1. You saved the best for last. Really enjoyed the series, CC. My father would have enjoyed it too.

  2. This one wins- an interplanetary cup final winner of a record.

  3. I echo Brian's sentiments. Thanks for all the Cash covers - and, of course, the original songs.

  4. Looking forward to the next series. Pink Floyd vs. cover versions?

  5. It's a great series CC - I hope you revive it with another artist after you've had a break.
I've been waiting for you to feature Johnny's version of 'No Expectations', which I've always enjoyed, but many other Stones fans seem to struggle with.

  6. Another great series so thanks for putting it together - Perfect song to finish off with as well.

As we all know it wasn't really a contest per se, Johnny is still the winner here!

  7. Love these series and the very best one of all to end it with.
    But who will be next?!

  8. Fun times, CC, thanks.

  9. No contest with Hurt.

Looking forward to the next one!

  11. Your Johnny versus the rest has been a bit of an anticipated high point in my Friday night music sessions of late. Many thanks. Looking forward to what you come up with next. Sadly, there aren't enough quality Kinks covers to make them a viable option.
