Grandpa Jim

Today, on what would have been his 88th birthday, we are attending the funeral of Jim who was my mother's partner for the last dozen or so years.
He has a family of his own but we have always considered him part of ours as well to the extent that my nephew who has known him all his life knew him as Grandpa Jim.
When my mum's Parkinsons worsened and she was essentially housebound he would visit every evening and prepare her dinner. He also never missed a day when she was in hospital and subsequently her care home.
A former dairyman (hence the picture) he enjoyed a long and happy retirement .
At various times he kept bees, chickens, quails and pigeons and enjoyed cooking and shopping for food  and drink.
He was also a great tennis fan and took great pleasure in the rise of Andy Murray.
He will be sadly missed by us all.

Rest easy Jim

  16. That's a lovely tribute. I'm sure he'd be touched and appreciative of it. As for the song, if it's not too disrespectful to comment further, I've loved this track for many years. I remember picking up a 10" inch copy of it in Nottingham (cheap at 99p)- I was there to watch the Villa play Notts Co on 26th Nov 1983 (we lost 5-2 if you must know!)
