2016 has been a truly terrible year.
Brexit. Trump, Aleppo and the loss of so many that provided the music of our youth.
On hearing of the death of
Rick Parfitt I commented that hopefully he was the last of the class of 2016.
Sadly it was not to be
Status Quo - Down Down
George Michael - Careless Whisper
And still it continues. Drummer Alphonse Mouzon, who played with virtually every jazz great over the past 40 years, died on Boxing Day.
ReplyDeleteNot really Swede. Not him. Saw him several times during the last decades. Seldom heard a drummer who's able to beat any rhytm. Another great loss this year m

DeleteI was never a fan of either but sad nonetheless. This way beyond strange now.
ReplyDeleteThe Michael death is the saddest, for me, of all them this year (so far). A combination of two things, one, that he was four months younger than me, and two, that he was a bit of a lost soul, musically, after the Listen Without Prejudice album. He semed a damned decent bloke.
ReplyDeleteCarrie Fisher.
