I'm 56 today.
For a wee while I thought about going into denial and then I released that I was a year nearer to retiring and getting my pension.
I got myself into a bit of a state thinking what to put on today.
I've done birthday songs, artists who share my birthday and my birthday number songs in the vinyl and CD section.
So this year I finally decided to see who was number1 in the UK and US in 1961 and it looks as though I have come up with a couple of reasonably good numbers
The Everly Brothers here and Bobby Lewis over the pond.
Any poor sod born today gets Wild Thought by DJ Khaleed (featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller)
The Everly Brothers - Temptation
Bobby Lewis - Tossin' and Turnin'
For those distraught that Burnt Offerings has not appeared here today tune in tomorrow
Take your pension early! Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday YOUNGSTER!*
ReplyDelete*(I'm 67 next month)
Happy birthday CC. Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteFelicidades amigo!
ReplyDeleteAll the best CC. I now get your comment at mine's.
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns of the day, you young whippersnapper. 'My Old Man's a Dustman' by Lonnie Donegan was No.1 the day I was born.
ReplyDeleteFor every year I get old, the Tory scum government moves the retirement age yet another year away!
ReplyDeleteChirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep was my birthday song. MrsRobster got I Don't Like Mondays. Who had the better deal...?
Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteHave just discovered that John Leyton's Johnny Remember Me was #1 when I came into the world.
Jamie
Happy birthday CC, have a good one! Your birthday singles aren't bad, are they? (Mine was Gerry & The Pacemakers 'I Like It')
ReplyDeleteElvis, It's Now or Never.
ReplyDeleteMHROTD!
They still have a singles chart?
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns, CC. I was Nilsson - Without You.
Many happy returns of the day, CC. I was Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Tears Of A Clown.
ReplyDeleteAnother fun post for a celebration day! I was 'Fingertips' by Stevie Wonder.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, CA!
er CC, that is. we folks in CA are bit spacy.
DeleteAll the best, CC. Top-notch birthday tunes.
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns, CC. I was born under the sign of "Wayward Wind" by Frank Ifield. I never thought it was appropriate, but now I'm in my mid 50s its relevance is all too obvious all too often, especially after a beer or two.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday CC - Be warned, by next year you will definitely be thinking of taking the pension early (there must be a 57 trigger point in your head or something).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, even before I scrolled down to see what your pick would be I just knew it would be The Everly Brothers. They were at No. 1 with Cathy's Clown when I was born in '60 and with Walk Right Back when Mr WIAA was born in March '61 so wasn't surprised at all - It's a wonder there aren't even more men called Phil and Dons of our vintage!
Thank you all for your kind words
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see who was number one when you were all born
Mrs CC's was Hello Goodbye by The Beatles.
Clearly The Robster has drawn the short straw!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CC!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Stevie! Sorry for the belated comment, but I just returned from me holidays. 'My' #1 (at least here in Germany) was Tom Jones' 'Delilah' ...
