Standing in the Way of Control

The more eagle eyed among you, and indeed the eagle eared, will have noticed this is not Soul.
The reason -Sunday Soul has been on the go pretty much continuously since September 2013 and I have pretty much run out of material and inspiration.
Rest assured, however, that soul will continue to pop up from time to time but just not in a regular slot.

Today we have Gossip who have been on the go from 1999 but who only really shone briefly and brightly with their 3rd album from 2006 Standing in the Way of Control.
I think it is safe to say that the media did not know what to make of Beth Ditto given that she shattered pretty much every stereotype and cliche for a young female singer. In short, a breath of fresh air.

CCM had it's 5000th comment yesterday. Thanks to all of you who have taken the trouble to drop a note. It means a lot and makes this all the more worthwhile

  1. Top song. One of the 21st centuries best punk songs I wager

And sadly, as with so many young female singers, was quickly discarded when the next one came along for their six months of fame. There rreally has, over the years, been a ridiculous amount of times that has happened - Ms Dynamite, Macy Gray, Neneh Cherry and Duffy were all lauded when they broke through to the extent of winning Brit Awards in one category or another and all seemingly sunk without trace just as quickly.

  3. Good choice CC - how true the words about Beth Ditto are too.
(Little pedantic here but I can see it's just a typo - album was from 2006 not 2016, I remember because I bought it!)
    5000 comments too - brilliant.

  4. New year, new broom. As long as the soul keeps popping up, it doesn't matter if it's on a Sunday.

You count your comments? That's dedication!
