Heaven or Hell 5
Well that was an interesting contest last week.I fully expected a unanimous win for the Pixies but the Triffids quickly notched up a very impressive lead. They were 7-2 ahead at one stage before being pegged back to 7-5.
We're still all going to Hell folks. Even the Pixies can't get us into Heaven
This week we have a contribution from our dear friend Ernie Goggins
Ernie got in touch to suggest putting Highway to Heaven by Detroit Soul group The Dramatics up against AC/DC and Highway to Hell.
We had a chat and agreed that it might be more interesting to pitch them against Red Star Belgrade who's cover version appears on the Down to the Promised Land - 5 Years of Bloodshot Records compilation
As the sign says: Heaven or Hell the choice is yours
The Dramatics - Highway to Heaven
Red Star Belgrade - Highway to Hell

I think I should probably abstain. Suffice to say, I like them both
ReplyDeleteBefore listening I was going to give my vote to Red Star Belgrade. Then I played the Dramatics song, which is very good. But after listening again to Red Star Belgrade, it just has to be them, what a tremendous song! I bought the album When the Sun Doesn't Shine by this band on the strength of that track
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Dramaticsfor me.
ReplyDeleteTough one. AC/DC would have been a no-brainer for me, but I still think the RSB version is better than its competition.
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Dramatics for me too.
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Dramatics for me as well CC
ReplyDeleteRSB
ReplyDeleteThe Dramatics for me hands down - That was a sublime listen.
ReplyDeleteI've had a bit of a thing for the Dramatics in recent weeks, ever since I became addicted to their anti-drugs song Beware Of The Man With The Candy In His Hand. So I thought they were going to walk away with this one.
ReplyDeleteBut the Red Star Belgrave cover surprised me. And as I have an uncle who once played for them... I'll go hell.
The dramatics have the better song but RSB have the better name.

What have you done? If you'd stuck with AC/DC it would have been no contest but a country cover? Sacrilege! So I'm heaven bound again. The Dramatics is a good song anyway.
