That Was The Year That Was

Well that's 2017 just about over.
As always the last day of the year is a time for reflection with regards to the last 12 months and also a time to look forward.
2017 saw the loss of both  my mum and her partner. There were also losses of extended family members and friends on Mrs CC's side of the family.
On a less personal note the political shambles on both sides of the Atlantic continues to give cause for concern. Certainly not a good time to be poor, disabled, in a minority or disadvantaged in any way.
At least the NHS in Scotland is not yet being systematically dismantled as is the case south of the border.

On a more positive note I got to meet my new twin nephews Oscar and Magnus for the first time.
And there is always the Glasgow Bloggers Convention in May to look  fondly back on. Let's do it again sometime.

As you can see I am feeling somewhat melancholy and these two songs which I put on recently seem to hit the spot.

Wishing you and yours a healthy, happy and prosperous 2018.
See you on the other side

  5. Yep, time to put this one to bed. Let’s have some optimism that this next year will be better. If not, well, we always have the music. My best to you, CC. Big fan of Kelly Hogan. One of my pals has been in her band off and on for years.

  10. (Very belated) Happy New Year wishes to you. I've found that melancholy can be good too. Was going to suggest you play Kelly's cover of Papa Was A Rodeo instead but ha ha that's pretty damn melancholic also! One of those songs that seems uplifting almost in defiance of the lyrics. Happy 2018!

  11. 2017 seems, for most people, to have been a year of complete contrasts for many people I know, full of happy times mixed in with real sadness and in some cases, genuine tragedy. Maybe its a sign of getting old that there are ever increasing numbers of the sad events....

Here's hoping 2018 proves to be a happy, healthy and enjoyable year.
