Talking with the Taxman about Poetry
Like many others I posted Help Save the Youth of America following the cataclysmic events of 8th November.
This resulted in me giving Talking with the Taxman about Poetry (the difficult third album - pay no more that £4.49) a listen in its entirety for the first time in ages.
Now thirty years old for goodness sake.
The production sounds a wee bit tinny but if you've come here for production you've come to the wong place.
However, if it's raw energy and passion you are after then Billy is your man
Levi Stubbs' Tears would have featured in my Namechecked series had I any Four Tops records which I don't.

The Warmest Room has always been my favourite from the "difficult album"
ReplyDeleteNo Four Tops music chez Charity Chic? A situation in need of rectifying I'd say.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Swede
DeleteThere may be an occasional track out there on a compilation but nothing substantial
Saw the original Four Tops live in Embra at the Playhouse in 1989. A phenomenal show with hits that just kept-on-a-comin. They were backed by the Motown house band, The Funk Brothers, who did a Motown hits instrumental set before before Mr Stubbs and Co took the stage. People who don't own at least three 4 Tops albums should seriously consider their reasons for living.
ReplyDeleteRaw energy and passion happens to be what I'm after today. Love the picks. Never enough of the the Four Tops either.
ReplyDeleteClassic Billy. But I must have misread your post in my haste to comment. No Four Tops???
ReplyDeleteYou haven't lived.
