The St Andrews Vinyl Extravaganza # 2

The second St Andrews vinyl acquisition may well come as a surprise to many of you.
I've never been a fan of the Beatles and I am reasonably confident that they have not appeared on these pages.
Mrs CC is a fan however and there was no way that I was going to turn down a copy of The Beatles (aka The White Album) in excellent condition, with the lyrics-com-poster and four individual colour prints of the band members, on sale for 99p.
I'm looking at it as an investment. One day when Mrs CC's back is turned I'll be sneaking onto Discogs!
Until then here is something by the Fab Four.

The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps

The Beatles - Happiness is a Warm Gun

  1. That makes one more Beatles' album in your collection than mine

  2. My relationship with the Beatles is complicated, but the White Album contains some fine tracks, and these are two of the best.

  3. The White Album for 99p? Bloody hell! Charity shops in this neck of the woods are still trying to offload Johnny Mathis, Val Doonican and Shirley Bassey LPs for £5 a pop.

    1. Agreed.
The pricing was ridiculous (but in a good way for a change!) leading me to pick up some stuff I normally wouldn't bother with.
A case of being in the right place at the right time.

  4. Anti-Beatles sentiment always surprises me. Actually, 'resistance to them' is nearer the mark. In my case it was an accident of birth, formative years blah blah that coincided with nascent Beatlemania and so I'm prime fodder, plum in that era. Those born outwith those heady days are freer to take opposing views and ....The Beatles are Gods? "1'll be the judge of that thank you very much". I've been taking similar stands against 'received opinion' myself ever since. Er,.....I've lost my thread here so I'll stop waffling suffice to say, quality endures as The Beatles/Stones/Kinks/Dylan and a hundred others testify. Happiness Is A Warm Gun is one of my favourites from that album - check out the 2018 version of same on YT.
