Let's Get Out Of This Country

I got the Tracyanne and Danny album for my birthday.
It is excellent. Playing it highlighted a major gap in my record collection - a distinct lack of Traceyanne Campbell's band Camera Obscura. The only thing I have is a burn of their last album Desire Lines
Given that I also received the modern equivalent of a record voucher I decided to do something about it.

I was torn between Let's Get Out of This Country and My Maudlin Career so I did the sensible thing and got them both.
From 2006 and on the Spanish Elefant Records label LGOOTC is the older of the two.
You should all be familiar with Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken. I posted it just over a year ago but it merits being posted again.
The title song was also a single and again is not too shabby.
MMC will feature in due course. Other birthday purchases will feature shortly.

  1. A great band. I discovered them many years ago when I saw them support Lambchop in York. Just got the Tracyanne and Danny album so will be devoting some time to that soon.

  2. The Tracyanne and Danny album is just beautiful, especially the last track. There is also a Twin Peaks vibe to a couple of tracks.

I love Let's Get Out Of This Country, espicially Country Mile which I find quite heatbreaking, but in a good way and Razzle Dazzle Rose which is just a perfect way to end an album. Although the previous two albums were very good and the two that follow LGOOTC are also quality, I think that this is the perfect Camera Obscura album.

  3. Yes! Yes! Yes! Don't be afraid to pick up Underachievers Please Try Harder if you see it on your travels too. Tracyanne and Danny will be near the top of my year-end list. You can count on it.

  4. What a wonderful album...from the opening strains of Home and Dry the album just takes off. There are moments of joy and sad reflection on the album and it really stays with you.
