Disco Friday #3

This week we feature the second of Mrs CC's recent Ballantrae purchases which were the inspiration for this series.
Club Tropicana - Classic Hits from the Eighties is a 3 CD compilation featuring 60 songs.
They are not all Disco - I shall spare you the likes of Toto, Mr Mister and Men at Work.
There are however some classic disco grooves in the mix.

Inside Out from Odyssey reached number 3 in 1982 meaning it was their second biggest hit after their 1980 number 1 Use It Up and Wear it Out.
KC and the Sunshine Band on the other hand kindly provide us with their only number 1 1983's Wear It Out

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, now Baby give it up

More floor fillers next Friday

  2. Inside Out was written by Jesse Rae. Roddy Frame did a beautiful acoustic and harmonica version at Paisley Abbey a few years ago.

    1. Didn't know that it was written by Jesse Rae Drew
      Everyday's a school day
I can imagine Roddy doing it justice

  3. Love Odyssey's "Inside Out". I bought the 12'' version. Smooth as silk.

Also worth checking out is the original "Going Back To My Roots" by Lamont Dozier, who wrote the song. (Odyssey did a fabulous cover version which reached #4 in the UK charts in 1981. Richie Havens did an earlier cover in 1980 which was almost pure disco - incredible for a guy who was considered a folk artist)

  6. Back in my disco days we had a friend who used to dance very literally to the lyrics - We were always very afraid when Inside Out came on!
