She Took a Lot of Pills (And Died)
When it comes to the Most Country of Country Song Titles the great Robbie Fulks almost merits a series of his own.
Alternatively you could just play his debut album Country Love Songs from 1996 and on the ever excellent Bloodshot label. Apropos of nothing my copy is second hand, the original being the property of Birmingham Libraries.
There is a strong possibility that more Bloodshot artists may appear in this accidental series.
Robbie I'm pleased to say is still going strong with his latest album Into the Wild! being a double act with Linda Gail Lewis the little sister of Jerry Lee.
Someone I suspect who isn't guilty of liking Every Kind of Music But Country.

Love it.
ReplyDeleteFirst heard "She Took a Lot of Pills (and Died)" on Andy Kershaw's show about 20 or so years ago and been a Robbie Fulks fan ever since.
ReplyDeleteShe Must Think I Like Poetry was the first of Fulks' titles to pop into my head... not a country song at all though.
