Barrence Redeems Himself

In the  run up to Christmas I briefly contemplated posting Papa Barrence's Christmas by Barrence Whitfield and the Savages  from the 2017 Bloodshot Records Sampler. In the end I decided against it as it is bloody awful.
Just a temporary blip from the big man I'm sure.
As proof here are Incarceration Casserole from the 2015 Sampler and The Claw from 2016.

Yet another artist who was first brought to my attention via the Andy Kershaw radio show. For me he was as much of an influence, if not more, than Peel.

  1. Kershaw for me too. I bought "Dig Yourself" album on the strength of tracks AK played on his show, but sadly missed seeing the band live.

  2. Yes, great track Incarceration Casserole. I loved Andy Kershaw's radios shows too - got hours of 'em (poorly recorded but I don't care)on cassette which I still play. It's not a beauty contest I know but Peel's sheer breadth, scope, diversity and longevity makes him the doyen for me by a million miles. Mind you, Alexis Korner has to have someone in his corner (me!) shouting for him too and whlist I've got your ears, Alan Keith with his Hundred Best Tunes nestles in my classical music heart. His refined, between tracks sober politesse was a life-affirming joy. If ever you get the chance to listen to any clips of his radio show you're in for a treat. Now, what was that about Barrence Whitfield?
