Jesus Wrote a Blank Check (those Americans and their pesky spelling) was a single from the album Prolonging the Magic by CAKE. If you were to sequence it alongside last weeks If Jesus Drove a Motor Home you could get yourself into hot water in Scottish political circles. Particularly if you followed it up with the next line One I haven't cashed yet. (Google SNP and motorhome. You couldn't make it up)
In last week's comments Ernie mentioned that he had an MRJS (Mandatory Reggae Jesus Song). Is it Jesus Dread by Yabby You? If not please feel free to pop it in an evelope and forward it.
A quick check to last week tells me that I am sticking with three Jesus songs per week (there are loads to choose from and you can have too much of a good thing)) the last of which requires to be a gospel number. Who better then to conclude with today than the fantastic Swan Silvertones?
There will be more gospel spreading next week
CAKE -Jesus Wrote a Blank Check
The Swan Silvertones -Jesus Remembers
It wasn't the one I was thinking of (although I do have that one). Envelope heading your way shortly. Love the Swan Silvertones.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, if I had access to a shedload of taxpayer's money, I'd probably buy a luxury motorhome. I mean, who wants a rubbish second hand one?
ReplyDeleteA quick flick through the hard-drives throws up up more 'Jesus' titled songs than expected, but no MRJS, so I'm looking forward to hearing Ernie's suggestion when it drops onto your digital doormat.
ReplyDeleteGotta love CAKE - all ramshackle like. The Fall, Camper Van Beethoven to name but two who sing to the same torn hymn sheet
