Of course this is a famous song. And it’s on the first album I ever bought, it cost me £2.99 from a small record shop whose name I forget in my part of Dundee. The shop may be long gone but I still have Elton John’s Greatest Hits on cassette. And here’s a bluegrass version, by the very manly-sounding Iron Horse. Now, it does take a while to find its groove, but it is worth the wait
The now obligatory Portugese-language version-probaby-delivered-by-a-Brasilian is faithful to the original, and is a perfectly pleasant listen that will also help with your Portugese (we'll all be fluent by the time this series is over... Ed)
. Heeeeeeeeeeeeee’re’s Lukas:
You’re welcome
I admit that I was initially dubious, but Iron Horse's bluegrass version works brilliantly, when it eventually gets going.
ReplyDeleteI did warn you, it's a strange start but worth a listen.
DeleteSome of Elton's early stuff was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI liked Benny and the Jets
Is Tumbleweed Connection going to be one of your 50 Americana albums we must own?
DeleteYou'll need to wait and see!
DeleteI like that version very much. Reminds me a little of The Gypsy Kings version of Hotel California, as featured in my favourite movie... but not George's.
ReplyDeleteI'll throw in this cover by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, because I'm sure George will hate that too...
