Springsteen Frenzy

I've been having a bit of a Springsteen frenzy over the last few days in the anticipation of getting my hands on a copy of Western Stars.

Following a recent post at Rol's place I found myself revisiting Tunnel of Love.
Then in Stanraer I picked up a charity shop copy of Devils & Dust to replace my previous copy which has the words "withdrawn from Newcastle upon Tyne City Libraries" splattered across it.
I also found myself picking up The Essential Bruce Springsteen CD. 37 songs over two discs for 99p. I've got most if not all of the tracks already but about half are on vinyl so it will be good for the car.

Finally I got Western Stars on my birthday and am happy to report that following an initial listen it is very good indeed. Melancholy but in a good way.

  1. To my ears 'Tunnel of Love' is Springsteen's closest comparable LP to 'Western Stars'. In spite of it being a 'solo' album, I can easily see the E-Street Band doing a terrific job with a few of the songs if they ever get to play them in concert.
