Cadillac Ranch

Just outside of Amarillo you come across Cadillac Ranch a public art installation.
Basically this consists of a number of vintage Cadillac's half buried in the desert and covered in graffiti as the above picture illustrates.
It is quite a sight.
Cadillac Ranch is also a track on The River by Bruce Springsteen.
So as not to annoy George further I will not post Brand New Cadillac by The Clash and I do not have the original by Vince Taylor to hand.
So here are another couple of songs which feature Cadillacs. There are plenty more out there.

Bruce Springsteen - Cadillac Ranch

Rosanne Cash - Black Cadillac

The Jesters -Cadillac Man

  1. I've played the Springsteen song. I nearly got to all the end. By the way, I have a Clash album.

  3. "Cadillac, Cadillac - long and dark, shiny and black..."

Not his greatest moment, lyrically, but it don't half rock!

  4. And then there's always Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac" by Natalie Cole, which I always found strangely endearing, despite the 80's cheese, and Mink DeVille's "Cadillac Walk"...no cheese.

I never knew of the Cadillac Ranch. Wow. And I live in this country! Nothing like an old caddy with wings. Now that was a car! Hahahahahaha.]

Love me some Rosanne Cash and doowop as well.

Oh, George, say it ain't so........

    1. I'm afraid it is so. London Calling, purchased ca. 11 years ago. Played twice.

  5. Are you looking forward to the Springsteen autobiography? Not sure in your neck of the woods, but the hype for this book has been crazy over here. Thanks for the American history lesson too. Don't think I knew about the Cadillac Ranch.

  8. My favourite cadillac song of all time (admittedly in a small field of one) is from Warren Smith - Red Cadillac and a Black Moustache http://tinyurl.com/hjj43fg
