Sounds Familiar?

I was listening to and thoroughly enjoying Gran Turismo by The Cardigans at the weekend when track 8 My Favourite Game came on.
My immediate thought was that it reminded me of Garbage (the band that is!) But which song?
After digging out my Garbage album and giving it a quick spin I have come to the conclusion two thirds Supervixen and one third Stupid Girl.

Nina Persson and Shirley Manson two glamorous and talented singers but only one has ever played with Goodbye Mr McKenzie!

Gran Turismo 1998. Garbage 1995

The Cardigans -My Favourite Game

Garbage - Supervixen

Garbage - Stupid Girl

  1. A tip of the cap to Shirley for the Goodbye Mr Mackenzie connection, but I'm going to have to side with the lovely Nina. Can't believe this song was 17 years ago. This one marks the end of my Cardigans collection.

  2. What's that adage? If you can't say owt positive say nowt. Right that takes care of Garbage, sorry. As for the Cardigans, well they were all right but....the reason for me commenting here is Nina's time with A Camp who, once again were alright but for me they had one killer song (Love Has Left The Room) which, much to my surprise, was my most played song on iTunes every year for the last half dozen. I just love it. Check it out http://tinyurl.com/lqf3z9u Admittedly, the video is naff but close your eyes and drown in its aural splendour. Pseuds corner stuff I know but I'm standing full square behind it.

  3. Of the two bands, I prefer the sultry singing of Shirley Manson. Garbage's music was darker, for me their songs had more emotional weight than The Cardigans.

  4. A few years ago I would have agreed with you Chris but I haven't listened to Garbage for ages and have been listening to the Cardigans more recently
