Wonderful World Beautiful People

It's summer and how better to celebrate that fact than by playing some wonderful reggae from the equally wonderful Jimmy Cliff.
I've had a Best of for a while but I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity of purchasing another one (The Messenger - The Very Best of Reggae's Original Soul Star since you ask) for 49p particularly when it yielded seven songs not on my previous compilation including these two absolute stonkers.

This is the sound of the summer

Jimmy Cliff - Wonderful World, Beautiful People

Jimmy Cliff - Sufferin' In The Land

  1. Cheers! Jimmy Cliff - one of the true greats. 49p for seven new songs? Bargain of the week.

  2. Awesome. He's still making some decent music too!

  3. I would like to know what IS on that first Best Of if it doesn't have these two great tracks.

  4. 'Wonderful World Beautiful People' missing from a Jimmy Cliff compilation? Wtf? (as I believe the young folks say these days)

  5. Wonderful World... was pretty much the song that got me started on reggae, along with the Clash's cover versions
    Swiss Adam

  6. He’s playing the Wickerman Festival in a couple of weeks I believe.

  7. Another top bargain find CC, Wonderful World is one of the reggae greats.

  8. A lot of love for Jimmy on these pages today
For anyone interested here are the track lists of the two compilations

    Many Rivers to Cross

    The Messenger

  9. Jimmy Cliff "Vietnam" brings it all home to me.
