Some More Danish Sizzlers

To the best of my knowledge the only other Danish artists in addition to Tina Dico to grace the CCM shelves are The Raveonettes.
They are a different beast altogether who make a somewhat splendid racket
Here are a couple of tracks from Whip It On their debut EP from as far back as 2002.
I saw them around then at King Tuts on the same bill as Razorlight. Needless to say they totally blew Johnny Borrell and his band away.
I know Drew is a big fan and I suspect that he is not the only one out there.
The Raveonettes are Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo and it almost goes without saying that being Scandanavian they are very good looking.
However, unlike Tina, they have never had a number one in their native land (or anywhere else for that matter, I suspect).
This will wake you up!

  1. Love them live, a little less so on record, that sound doesn't seem to quite translate onto the tape. It has been far too long since they have been in Glasgow. The last album has some gems and is good on the whole but not brilliant.

  2. Yes a splendid racket indeed. The Scandinavians do seem to be particularly good at this kind of garagey stuff, don't they? I bet they were great live.

  3. Have to disagree with Drew I'm afraid - I thought the last album was utterly brilliant, my fave record of last year in fact. Superb band, never caught them live sadly. They never seem to make it around this way.

  4. 'Whip it On' is the only thing I've ever owned by the band and to be honest I didn't realise they were still a going concern. Good to hear these tunes again - great stuff.

    1. It is also the only one of theirs that I have Swede along with a burn of Chain Gang of Love
