As Tears Go By

We are back from our week away to a bombsite.
The plan was that when we were away a new bathroom was to be put in.
However, when ripping out the bath they discovered that there was a degree of rot underneath leading to the joists having to be replaced.
All of which has led to a delay.
So after a week in  a hotel in Portpatrick we had to spend the weekend in a hotel in East Kilbride.
It is still not finished so there may well be a reduced service again this week as we try to get back to some sort of normality.

As for the music meagre pickings on our travels although I did pick up the above album  by Marianne Faithfull which focusses on her output from the 60's.
You should all be familiar with these two.

  1. Beautiful and harrowing. The latter is a real favourite here. I can relate as far as bathrooms are concerned as ours has been a mess for months as I await the wherewithal to sort it out.

    2. My only knowledge of Scottish New Towns is the one in Gregory's Girl (but it's not East Kilbride).

    3. It's that big clock in the shopping centre that identifies it.

  3. Never heard that second track before. According to a well known source it appears that she co-wrote it with Jagger and Richard, but when the Rolling Stones did it a couple of years they left her name off teh credits.

  4. You have my sympathies CC and has reconfirmed why I have put off any more house improvements now until the New Year.

As you are aware I don't often know the artists you feature here but I certainly do know Marianne Faithful and this is a wonderful pick for me today. Enjoy East Kilbride!

  5. Hope the bathroom is soon sorted. We tried that a few years ago (in a previous house) while our bathroom was being redone and it turned into a nightmare. I hope your plumbers are more reliable than ours were!

  6. Two great songs and I do so love Marianne's beautiful face from that time!
Lots of luck with the bathroom etc., I don't envy you...

  7. Are your stopping by all of Roddy Frame's old haunts? The Gardenhall Inn used to be called the Diplomat, or the Dip, as he sang on High Land, Hard Rain.
