Tanita

Whilst filing away Bashed Out my recently acquired and excellent This is the Kit album I stumbled upon Tanita Tikaram's album Ancient Heart which I was unaware that we had.
It is her debut album from 1988 and is the one with the hits. Whilst I vaguely recognise the cover even if you had offered me a vast sum of money I would have been hard pushed to tell you it's name

It would appear that she has had another 8 albums plus a best of but I suspect that she is only really remembered for these two songs.
It seems that she was born in Germany and is from Fijian stock.

Not to be confused with Martika's Kitchen

Tanita Tikaram - Good Tradition

Tanita Tikaram - Twist In My Sobriety

  1. which I was unaware that we had......
are you trying to say that this (a) an album you are ashamed to admit buying, hence the "we", so shamefully suggesting it's actually a Mrs CC album when it's not, or (b) you have joined yours and Mrs CCs collections and it is one big happy family?

    1. Everything is lumped together in the relevant genres George. Not one I am ashamed of as I have worse, much worse. These are two reasonably good songs. Just don't recall acquiring it

  2. I've never owned anything by her and hadn't knowingly heard these two songs since the late 80's, yet remembered nearly every word of the lyrics. How does that happen?

  3. Ditto Swede. They sound rather dated now to these ears, but even so, Good Tradition in particular is still a fine song.

  4. I have to agree to Swede and Robster and haven't anything owned from her but I like this songs. @Swede: the more you listen to a song, the more the lyrics get manifested in your brain.
