A Smart, Sexy, Lip-smacking Bowl of Mind Candy
I picked up Nancy & Lee the other day in a thrift shop in Ballantrae for three quid. From 1968 and still in excellent condition.
Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood must constitute one of pop music's original odd couples.
He described in the Guardian as the wayward guru of cowboy psychedelia and she described by All Music as a bright-eyed girl-child
It shouldn't have worked but it did their partnership again described by All Music as a smart, sexy, lip-smacking bowl of mind candy a description I though worthy of stealing for this posts' title
Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood - Summer Wine
Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood - Some Velvet Morning

Timeless and great music, CC. And the title of this post says it all.

ReplyDeleteI just love Nancy and Lee, both sepearately but especally together. What chemistry.
ReplyDeleteOh, my two favourite Nancy and Lee tracks - fantastic choices CC, thanks, and I love the post title too.
ReplyDeleteA very special duo, indeed. Great pick up.
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be Sand for me but I love the whole album Elusive Dreams a close second. What a bargain.
ReplyDeleteYour 3 quid was a steal, The 2 tracks you've posted only scratch the surface, Lady Bird and Jackson are great tracks but for me, like Drew, Sand is the one. Incidentally checkout Lisa Germano and OP8's version of Sand http://tinyurl.com/h428qb9 - it's a stone classic cover
ReplyDeleteWhat a good find CC. Excellent album. 'Some Velvet Morning' remains one of the oddest things ever to be released under the 'pop' banner. I first heard the Lydia Lunch & Rowland S Howard version in 1982 and then tracked down the original. There are also interesting versions of the song by Firewater and Thin White Rope nestling in my collection.
ReplyDeleteWhat everyone else who got here before me has said..............
