A fairly eay one today given that
The Ultimate Collection from which last week's
Autumn Almanac was taken had not yet been returned to the shelves.
Asked to name great British bands of the 60's most folk would come up with
The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and perhaps
The Who. The Kinks are right up there too.
These songs are now over 50 years old and still as fresh as a daisy.
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night
".......still as fresh as a daisy." unlike your readers of 50 years and more....
ReplyDeleteThey're right up there for me too. Was lucky enough to have seen them at the old Apollo and what a night that was.

Definitely!
ReplyDeleteTimeless songs but sad that I can no longer be referred to as a fresh daisy :(
ReplyDeleteIn 1978, when I was fresh as a daisy, I saw Peter Gabriel at the Palladium in NYC, and it was the best concert of my life, period. He closed the show with 'All Day and All of the Night', and that was the exact moment rock music changed my life.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to really put the blog on cruise control, I think I can speak for everyone when I say it's fine if you want to go with the Kinks every day while you're gone.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a moment, JTFL!
When asked my favourite band I always give the Kinks because ...well because they are. Always feel a tad guilty though as the Beatles carry all before them - musically, culturally etc and I do love them so yet.....we cleave to others too and for me Ray Davies and the Kinks are my bosom.
