Brothers, Sisters #2
Two Country harmony acts for you this week
The Great Atomic Power by Charlie and Ira Loudermilk commercially known as the Louvin Brothers has appeared here before but given the shenanigans currently going on between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un it is probably worthwhile posting it again before it is too late and you rise and meet your saviour in the end
Oh as Charlie and Ira would have it please remember that Satin is Real
The Louvin Brothers The Great Atomic Power
This week's female Country siblings are of a more modern vintage.
Laura and Lydia Rogers record and perform as Americana duo The Secret Sisters.
They are from Muscle Shoals, Alabama a town with a great musical history and they first honed their skills by singing a cappella in their local church
They have recently released their 3rd album You Don't Own Me Anymore which was produced by the great Brandi Carlile.

More singing siblings next week

you just can't go wrong with The Louvins. Too much oh-de-oh-de-oh-de-oh-ing on the Secret Sisters for my liking.
ReplyDeleteGeorge is right, The Secret Sisters' harmonies are lovely, but those oh-de-oh-de-oh-de-ohs are a bit distracting. Anything by The Louvin Brothers is ok with me though.
ReplyDeleteIn complete agreement with Mr George and Mr Swede about The Louvins - a great duo.
ReplyDeleteAgree to George and The Swede with the Louvins. Love to listen to their songs and it makes me happy. Thank you for this CC.
ReplyDeleteCan never get enough of those Louvins.
ReplyDeleteAs an inveterate supporter of the under dog......I liked the SecretSisters track. Disclaimer: I bought their CD cheaply a few weeks back in one of my Manc CD grabs. And.......although I haven't played it yet I feel obliged to stand up for them. Comparisons? Finishing runner-up in a field of two isn't necessarily a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteYes. Love the Louvins. Lovely harmonies from the ladies, as The Swede states. Not sure I have as much of a problem with oh-de-dohing as the guys above, but I'd prefer it if they were singing Satan Is Real.
ReplyDeleteReally sweet:
