Ooh La La

The Faces were pretty much the identikit rock'n'roll band.
The one which ticked all the stereotype  and cliche boxes of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll.
As much a gang as a band and the one that many a teenage boy would have given his eye teeth to be a member of.
Given the lifestyle it was hardly surprising that Rod,Ronnie L, Ronnie W , Kenny and Mac only lasted for three years and four albums from 1970 to 1973.
I've gone for two of the hits from their final album Ooh La La as they are among the ones I remember most as a youth
Pool Hall Richard would certainly have featured had it not featured before.

From the When Rod was Good era and for George and Walter who have sung their praises before

  1. My favourite Faces single and favourite Faces track together in one post. Marvellous.

  2. "Ooh La La" is such a great song. My favourite version is this live 1974 BBC TV performance of the song by Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance - great sound from a great band, including Gallagher & Lyle on mandolin and accordion, with the added bonus of Ronnie's wife joining in with some great Can-can kicks near the end.

  3. I was about to go on about how a younger generation discovered this song via the Rushmore soundtrack. Then I realized that was 20 years ago. Man. Time is really flying.

  4. Gram Lynch nails it. Ooh La La is unimpeachable. I see it's got a Wood/Lane credit but for me this has Ronnie Lane stamped all over it - up for being proved wrong though. Ronnie Lane comes over as such a gentle 'n' likeable bloke. My fave version is this double feature incl Debris https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojKOlgBjwc4
