Oxfam Singles - Elvis Perkins
The second of the 6 Oxfam singles is All the Night Without Love by American folk rock act Elvis Perkins.
It is a promotional single and one of the good things about that is that all the necessary info is printed on a slip of paper for the benefit of radio stations which means I don't have to look anything up. Result!
Released on May 21st 2007 it precedes the UK release of his debut album Ash Wednesday.
He appears to be hot of the back of critically acclaimed tours in the US supporting Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Cold War Kids (no, me neither) and he is down to tour in the UK with Willy Mason.
I have resisted the temptation to check out his list Myspace page.

I love Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! and Cold War Kids. In fact their new albums are among my most-listened-to of the year so far. Not terribly enamoured by Elvis Perkins though, sorry...
ReplyDeleteNo apology required Robster
DeleteWe had an Elvis Perkins album once, but it was dispatched in one of the periodic purges. These tunes are a lot more interesting than the ones I remember from said album. In fact I played 'All the Night Without Love' twice.
ReplyDeleteNicely done, CC. I will second the Robster's sentiments on Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Cold War Kids too.
ReplyDeleteRobster and Brian showing hipster credentials.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be big beards and avocado lattes next.
