The Prince |
Some interesting shuffled selections for you today.
We kick off with The Rockingbirds. Allmusic sum them up neatly - The Rockingbirds were an anomaly, a British country-rock band on the hip Heavenly label whose peak activity unfortunately coincided with the fallow period between the roots-rock movement of the 1980s and the "No Depression" resurgence of the mid-'90s.
Here they are with Jonathan,Jonathan a song paying homage to the great Jonathan Richman.
Staying with great artists they are followed by Michael James Williams. Michael James Who I hear you asking? He was none other than the great Prince Far I who sadly died in 1983 at the tragically young age of 38 having being shot during a robbery. Heavy Manners indeed.
We conclude with the Scottish blues, freakbeat and psychedelic pop band The Poets with That's The Way It's Got to Be from as far back as 1965.
More freakbeat shuffling next Saturday.
The Rockingbirds -Jonathan,Jonathan
The Poets - That's The Way Its Got To Be
Super shuffling CC
ReplyDeleteDid a compare and contrast - although from totally different genres, I liked the Prince Far I song best followed by The Poets one and then The Rockingbirds. Saying something as I actually quite liked the Rockingbirds.
ReplyDeleteFine Shuffling as Ernie said.
Love the Poets especially, great stuff.
