Following on from my relatively recent post featuring The Rat by The Walkmen I had a scout about for other Rat related songs in the Music file.
I came up with the following four songs but I'm sure that you could come up with a few more. Strangely although they have an album called Ratus Norvegicus and Rats Rally, as a subset of Down in the Sewer, as far as I am aware The Stranglers do not have a song with Rat in the title. I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Let's get one of the obvious one out of the way and it is a bit of a double whammy. I give you Rat Trap by The Boomtown Rats.
Next up are Edinburgh band Honeyblood with Super Rat from their eponymous 2014 debut album on FatCat (as opposed to FatRat) Records.
The late great Kelly Joe Phelps gives us the story of River Rat Jimmy from his 1999 album Shine Eyed Mister Zen.
We conclude with The Specials and Rat Race which I have taken from a compilation called Too Much Two Tone. A minor quibble as you can never have too much Two Tone.
