2024 Charity Shop Purchases # 67 - Gemma Hayes - The Hollow of Morning
I'm muddling things up a bit chronologically speaking as there were a couple of artists where I picked up more than one CD and it makes sense to spread them out a bit. Let's face it you can have too much of a good thing or depending on your views of The Incredible String Band a not so good thing.
We will return to Castle Douglas but today we are off to the lovely Dumfriesshire village of Thornhill near to where we stayed on our second week.
There was another Canine Rescue charity shop. What is it about Dumfriesshire and dogs? There was the usual meagre selection of CDs featuring by and large the usual suspects and they were selling at three for pound.
Among the usual detritus there were the first three albums by Irish singer songwriter Gemma Hayes. I already had her 2002 debut Night On My Side but quickly pounced and picked up the other two.
From a very brief cursory first listen album the third album The Hollow of Morning from 2008 and appearing on her own GH label appears to be the pick off the bunch.
