The New Frontier

This Sunday's Americana compilation The New Frontier ; Americana - The Next Generation comes courtesy of Uncut Magazine June 2007

Slightly after Americana peaked for me but still enough for me to have some familiarity with 6 of the 15 acts.

One of the new to me acts were Oakley Hall with If I Was in Elderado. From Brooklyn, New York and active from 2002 to date.Wiki describes them as a folk rock group with elements of rock, blue grass and old time music. They are worthy of further exploration.

The band Bright Eyes, led by Conor Oberst, are no strangers to me and I have a good few of there albums primarily from charity shops. Lau which is a gorgeous song, is taken from the Saddle Creek  album I'm Wide Awake , It's Morning which I have on the Americana shelves.Conor has gona bit of the rails in recent years. I hope he's ok.

I am slightly familiar with The Felice Brothers with a burn of 2014's Favorite Waitress (marks off for spelling!) Their song Mercy on the CD  is taken from their 2007 album Mercy on Loose Records

On the off chance that anyone is remotely interested here is the tracklist

Oakley Hall - If I was in El Dorado

Bright Eyes - Lau

The Felice Brothers - Mercy

  1. I like the like the Felice Brothers but not as much as I like their breakaway brother Simone Felice. His 2014 album "Strangers" is particularly good
