2026 Charity Shop Purchases #3 Lee Perry - Reggae Genius 20 Upsetter Classics
Let's start with a question and an observation.
Question - who in their right mind would hand an album such as this into a charity shop?
Observation - the term genius is often overused and unmerited. In this case it is fully justifiable.
From 2011 it is probably the best album ever to have been released on the Spectrum label. I mean to say just look at this tracklist. 20 songs and not a dud among them
I could have chosen any of these songs produced by Scratch most of which were written or co-written by him.
Susan Cadogan is the only female artist to feature on the album so it seems only fair to give you her classic song Hurts So Good.
Susan is followed by the man himself with Roast Fish & Cornbread.
My final selection is Max Romeo with I Chase The Devil.
I suspect that this is one which will be revisited in due course.
