Mystery Lady

.

2025 Charity Shop Purchases #13 - Etta James - Mystery Lady - Songs of Billie Holiday

The final instalment from my latest Charity Shop haul.

I'm a fan of Etta James and a fan of Billie Holiday so it was a bit of a no-brainer to pick up Mystery Lady Etta's 18th album from 1994 on RCA Victor.

I am primarily a fan of both ladies singing the Blues.Mrs CC on the other hand prefers them signing Jazz. A quick listen will confirm which camp this album is in and the fact it reached number two on rhe Billboard Top Jazz Albums Chart and won the 1995 Best Vocal Album Grammy is a bit of a give away.

It is an easy listen and just the thing for a Sunday morning.

  1. Even with all the accolades, this is one of those albums I completely missed due to my time living in rural Japan. The world was a lot bigger in 1994. Like you, I’m a fan of both ladies. Thanks for highlighting this one. - Brian
