On my latest visit to my local Shopping Centre ( I refuse to use the American term Mall) two songs from the piped music system caught my ear.
Fortunately I wasn't in the toilet as one of the songs was Love Shack by the B52's. I was surprised that it wasn't in my music folder but fortunately I have a vinyl copy of the album it was on Cosmic Thing.
I have tunes from Shack and Th' Legendary Shack Shakers so they merit inclusion alongside a Buddy Guy number.
The other song that caught my attention was Everything I Own by Ken Boothe
Th' Legendary Shack Shakers - Misery Train
Buddy Guy -One Room Country Shack
I worry that you are becoming overly dependent on your local shopping centre for content. Time to get back on the road scouring the charity shops of Scotland.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteHowever circumstances are curtailing my travels.
I honestly thought you were heralding Michael and John Head's recent reformation.
ReplyDeleteShack, for me, never put a foot wrong in their illustrious recording career (though the Head brothers may tell you different). Their legacy (soon to be enhanced) remains unblemished..
BTW - you spend far too much time in shopping centre lavatories for my liking.

I second that. - Brian
DeleteI first mistakenly read your post title as Shark Attack. Then saw it was a toilet tunes instalment. I was worried there for a moment - what lurks in those shopping centre cisterns?!
ReplyDeleteSome good stuff there. Th' Legendary Shack Shakers were new to me unless I've had a senior moment. Liked Misery Train but reading up about them it seems that track isn't representative of their ahem....oeuvre - I'll dig a little deeper. Buddy Guy, great as ever. For some reason I've never been able to like Love Shack - I get odd looks and sympathy from friends who tell me I'm a tin eared philistine but that one day they hope I'll recover. You can't like everything.....
