I was re-reading a post recently featuring the late great Eddie Hinton and it got me thinking about other musical Eddies.
Given his short and troubled live I have christened this post Unsteady Eddie but most, if not all, of the other artists featured are on the strait and narrow. He was indeed a Hard Luck Guy. Another one to thank Kershaw for.
In the order that I have downloaded them the next one up is/are Eddie & the Hot Rods with Do Anything You Wanna Do.
Eddie is followed by Eddie in this case the mighty Eddie Cochran with Somethin' Else.
Next up is Guyana's finest Eddy Grant who is Living On the Front Line .
We conclude with Scotland's own Eddi Reader and her wonderful version of the Boo Hewerdine song Ontario.
I'm sure that there is scope for a further post. Over to you for suggestions.
Eddie & the Hot Rods - Do Anything You Wanna Do
Eddie Cochran - Somethin' Else

Floyd, Kendricks, Giles and Bo for a soul session. Arnold for yodelling and country crooning. Kenzo for shiny Afropop
ReplyDeleteIt's about an Eddie not by one, but I can't see this first name mentioned without singing in my head "Just like Eddie", by Heinz, or its cover by Silicon Teens.
ReplyDeleteEddy Offord was a prominent recording engineer, best known for his prog-related work in the 1970s. ELP recorded a humorous and uncharacteristically non-prog tribute to him in 1971 called 'Are You Ready Eddy?'
ReplyDeleteFor an artist, I'd have to suggest one of my all-time favourites, Ed Kuepper, who incidentally isn't an Eddie or Edward, but an Edmund.
Mention of the word prog guarantees CC will already have his fingers in his ears and be shaking his head violently from side to side
DeleteA Girl Called Eddy (aka Erin Moran) - I had an alb of hers once (produced by Richard Hawley I believe). Then there's Eddie Middleton who had a great 1970 country/soul tinged track with horns called Until Then which I think you'd like - it's on YT and of course Duane Eddy!
