We follow last Week's News of the World with the Tory Housewives and the Blue Rinse Brigade favourite the Daily Express.
As you can see from the above they are not afraid to nail their colours to the mast. However, unlike last week's rag they don't really go for smut. John Cooper Clarke sums their stance neatly with his song (You Never See a Nipple in the ) Daily Express
It's also highly unlikely that you will ever see a nipple in the couthy Sunday Post published by DC Thompson in Dundee which for some reason is very popular in Scotland. Maybe it is something to do with Our Wullie and The Broons. The accompanying song is Post to Wire by Richmond Fontaine.
For news in general this weeks offerings are Gillian Welch with Here Comes the News and Have You Heard the News Today by Cosmic Rough Riders

A staggering sequence of front page headlines. Maybe after all the Tories can't save Britain
ReplyDeleteI fucking hate the Daily Express almost as much as I fucking hate the Daily Mail. Almost.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - it's a close call
DeleteI genuinely hate The Express far more than The Mail. I think it's to do with it being printed in Glasgow up until the 70s.
ReplyDeleteSome of my family members bought it every day....on account of it being the best for horse racing coverage.
Daily Express readers (and Daily Mail readers, in fact more so), are everything, literally everything, that is wrong with the world. Awful newspaper that thrived on the death of a member of the royal family and then turned its attention to jingoistic headlines in order to save its rapidly declining sales and most of the last forty years it was owned by a Porn Baron and yet stood as the bastion of all that is good and British.
