A Sunday Single #10

There are many in the blogging fraternity, myself included , who will argue that Talking Heads best work was contained within their first four albums.
However it was after this when they enjoyed their greatest commercial success. Road to Nowhere from Little Creatures  their 6th studio album was their most successful single in the UK Released on 12th October 1985 it was their only UK Top Ten single peaking at number 6. It only reached 105 in the US charts
The b-side Televison Man is another song from Little Creatures. The single version jumps so here is the album version. Both come in at just over 6 minutes and are probably one and the same.

  1. Little Creatures opened and closed with 2 great tracks - "And She Was" & "Road To Nowhere", but I'm sketchy as to the tracks in between.

  2. Dare I say this was one of my favourite TH albums? Road To Nowhere is still good to hear, despite it being one of the most overplayed songs of all time...

  3. Find it hard to believe that Road To Nowhere was their only Top Ten single but you are right. Loved this era of Talking Heads.

  4. Yes, Talking Heads' best work was contained within their first four albums. Little Creatures was essentially Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with art school lyrics and singing. Such basic, uninteresting music was a mighty disappointment for us long-time believers. Can't remember if I even bought this album.

  5. I'm with Gram Lynch on his first and last best tracks view but I'm gonna play the album though a couple of times (I've a long car journey tomorrow) just to see if I've changed my mind 30 odd years later. Actually, probably my fave TH song is City of Dreams which I think was on the album after Little Creatures.

  6. Road To Nowhere will, at some point, certainly feature in the True Confessions series over at my place. It's an abomination of a record with an equally annoying video.

Glad I got that off my chest.
