Burnt Offerings 22

Burnt Offerings returns with Volume 22 and this week it is Ladies Night - Ladies with attitude that is.

We start in Boston , Massachusetts with Dresden Dolls featuring the dulcet tones of Ms Amanda Palmer with some of their self described Brechtian punk cabaret . This song is taken from their 2006 alum Yes Virginia

Dresden Dolls -Dirty Business

From Massachusetts (and indeed Virginia) we take the small hop to Pennsylvania to touch base with Alecia Beth Moore  better known to you and I as Pink.
God is a D.J. is probably all the Pink that you will ever need and is certainly the only tune of hers that is  likely to grace these pages

Pink - God is a D.J.

Lastly but not leastly we return to Boston to meet up with Rhode Islander the great Tanya Donely of Throwing Muses, The Breeders and Belly fame.
Not content with being a member of these three seminal bands she found time for some solo outings with this song being taken from her 2002 album Beautysleep

Tanya Donely - The Night You Saved My Life

More random nonsense next week (only 10 more volumes to go!)

  3. Always good to see a bit of Amanda Palmer, I like what she's about. And Tanya too. And I do think Pink is talented - whilst I don't like her later output at all this is a good one.
    3/3!

  5. Always like to hear Tanja. Thanks for it. Saw Amanda Palmer in the festival and was highly amazed about her performance with Edward Ka Spell.

  7. I'm a bit conflicted about Tanya tbh. Throwing Muses were challenging! Belly (my favourites by far) were pop personified and as for the Breeders, I remember seeing them bomb at Sheffield's Octagon in early 90's - they were truly dreadful. Support band (name escapes me though they had a song featured in a top film of the time) were poor but outshone headliners. I've no memory of them playing stellar song Cannonball though they must have. Support band's name is killing me. Ahhhhh!

  8. Spence.... I had a look and I reckon it was the rather awful and bland Urge Overkill who were the support act.

CC....I'll give you 2/3 on this one. Pink gets on my nerves. To be fair, I don't think she's that keen on me.
