What Was The Name of that Album Again?

I have been finding it increasingly difficult to remember the names of some albums that I have  fairly recently bought.
This is either because they are relatively new, they are the only album I own by the artist or else I am slowly losing it. I suspect the latter.
If you were to put a gun to my head I suspect that I would be unable to tell you that my albums by Slowclub, War on Drugs and Withered Hand are respectively titled Complete Surrender,Lost in the Dream and New Gods
Another example is The Bones of What You Believe by Glasgow electronica trio and spellchecker's least favourite band Chvrches.
It has to be said that all these albums are very good indeed
In a sign of the times I note that in addition to films Chvrches music also features on a number of computer games.
I see they have started recording a new album. If and when I get it I will need to start remembering the names or else take to referring to them as Chvrches 1 and 2

  1. If I were to put a gun to your head............would you put up a photo of you and one of Chris de Burgh? Never heard this band before.

  2. I can remember entire lyrics to songs I might have heard half a dozen times in 1973, but have to write down the names of bands I currently listen to every day and rave about, for fear of forgetting them. It's all downhill from here.

  3. My experience is the same as The Swede's. I discovered on a works outing the other day that I know all the words to "Candida" by Tony Orlando & Dawn. This alarmed me almost as much as it did my colleagues

  4. I was just talking to someone at the weekend about this very thing. I can recite all the words to pretty much everything by The Jam, Bunnymen, Smiths etc but can't remember song titles and lyrics from any new stuff..think The Swede is right, it is all downhill from here on in...

  5. I often find myself in the same position - can never remember any details from new albums but could reel off every piece of minutiae about something from the 70's. Is it because that stuff really *matters* or is it just old age? I suspect the latter. I find Chvrches (what's that about?) quite poptastic.

  6. I reckon it's because your recording heads were all shiny and new back then, but now they're all covered in all the interim years' accumulation of dust and detritus. We all need a good head-clean!

I like a bit of Chvrches. But I have to say it like it's written, and that's hard.
